Artist in Acoustically Isolated Recording Studio

Recording Studios

Whether your studio is for film, television, radio or music production; it is crucial that it is totally free from external noise. Any slight sound or disruption of the recording process can reduce the quality of, or even ruin, the end product.

Luckily the acoustic isolation of recording studios is one of Mason UKs areas of speciality. We can help with all the critical elements to achieve high levels of isolation and exceptional performance. Clients, such as the BBC and Sky, often use Mason products because they know theyre the very best the industry has to offer.

Box in Box

Well-designed studios incorporate the 'box in box' concept, which is an acoustically isolated room, built within the existing structure. This room (or box) is totally separate from the original structure, only connecting through the various spring or rubber components of our products. These acoustic isolation products create an air gap, which controls air-born noise, working in the same way as double-glazing.

Acoustic Floating Floors
The main component is a floating floor, which is the base that can carry the sidewalls and the potentially the ceiling to create a floating box completely isolated from the structure. There are several types of floating floors available; our two main types use our jack-up system, with either L.D.S. rubber or spring elements. The nature of the noise/vibration will dictate the best solution. To learn more about our acoustic floating floors, please scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on the associated product.

Isolated Walls
Walls should be designed with Mason acoustic wall ties to brace the walls, if required structurally. Mason wall ties use LDS as the isolating element to reduce or eliminate vibration transmission. Normally we recommend our DNSB wall ties - more information on these can be found at the bottom of this page. However, we have several other types of wall isolation available for specialist needs, these can be viewed via the Isolated Walls page, on the products drop down menu.

Suspended Ceilings
If ceilings are to be hung from the structural floor, acoustic hangers should be used which reduce or eliminate the transmission of vibration between floors. Our most popular hanger is our HDQF, which has been designed to easily clip onto the common MF metal frame grid system. For more information on this, scroll down the page and click on the relevant product. There are other hanger types available, the selection of which is driven by the ceiling construction and the nature of the vibration. To learn more about these, please click the drop down Products button at the top of the screen and select Hangers & Ceilings.

Conclusion

Mason UK has successfully sound proofed many recording studios; weve got a great track record with many famous clients such as the BBC, Sky, Pinewood Studios, Gold Crest ADR studios in Soho, The Royal Opera House and many more. Just check out the past projects in the right hand grey bar.
